Kinja'd!!!

Doing one leg of the drive tonight. Coldfoot is the last beer heading North, and last public gas station for a while. It is basically a glorified dirt road, and we are limited to 50mph for reasons that become obvious.

Kinja'd!!!

Driving this beauty for work. 2500 Duramax 4×4 four-door with an 8 foot bed.Happy to answer any questions about the AK pipeline, haul-road or right-of-way.

Addition: Made it to Coldfoot at 10:30p and it was still light out. The sun had just slipped behind the mountains. We are well past the arctic circle. Checked into my sweet room! $5/hr internet. Time for bed(s)!

Why can’t you just tap the pipeline to refuel?

I’ve been stranded 3 times in the past 2 months by a Duramax, and other co-workers have been stranded by it as well. Good luck!

Is there fuel available where you’re going to? Otherwise it seems like there is a range issue getting back right?

The stations along the pipeline have diesel pumps for employees. Usually about 100ish miles apart. We will definitely leave with a full tank though.

The pipeline carries crude, we need that sweet sweet diesel.

Many many contractors use Fords with Powerstrokes as well, but it is mixed. This is what the pipeline company gives us, so that’s what we use. We have arctic gear and radios if we do break down.
